A session of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation of St. Andrew the First-Called was held
The session was opened by Vladimir Yakunin, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation of Saint Andrew the First-Called and the Centre of National Glory.
In his speech Vladimir Yakunin noted that the Foundation of St. Andrew the First-Called marks the 25th anniversary in 2017.
Few non-commercial organizations in modern Russia have such a long history. Throughout all these years the Foundation has been aspiring to facilitate the preservation of civilizational identity of our people, its assertion in public awareness.
The Foundation of St. Andrew the First-Called will preserve the specific features of its activity in the future. Vladimir Yakunin emphasized the huge potential for the Foundation’s development. He also mentioned efficient work of the team of the Foundation of St. Andrew the First-Called which has been created during the years.
Vladimir Yakunin paid special attention to perspectives of “Sanctity of Motherhood” programme. Amid the situation when President of Russia Vladimir Putin, legislative and executive bodies give special consideration to demographic issues, the experience and best practice of “Sanctity of Motherhood” programme are valuable like never before.
In 2017 the Russian society will focus on the tragic events that took place in 1917.
The Foundation of St. Andrew the First-Called implemented plenty of projects aimed at healing the wounds that our society suffered from because of revolutions followed by the Civil War. One of the brightest events was the sea voyage to visit .locations where our compatriots were staying as they had to abandon their Fatherland as a result of the fratricidal war. During the commemorative sea voyage descendants of the emigrants of the first wave and our compatriots who grew up in the Soviet Union were discussing reasons and consequences of the tragedy of 1917; they wrote and authorized the memorandum “Never Again!” which urged not to let the tragic century-old events ever happen again.
Vladimir Bushuyev, Director of the Foundation of St. Andrew the First-Called and the Centre of National Glory, reported on the activity of the Foundation and the Centre of National Glory in 2016 and informed that all the tasks identified for the period had been fulfilled.
One of the main tasks of the Programme is to participate in formation of family-oriented information policy.
The activity of the Foundation of St. Andrew the First-Called at the international arena in 2016 helped develop a dialogue, overcome differences in opinions and draw attention of the public to significant historical milestones and traditional worldview grounds that unite nations beyond political contradictions.
In the second part of his speech Vladimir Bushuyev presented plans for the Foundation’s activity in 2017.
Among the key programmes he marked the All-Russian Programme “Sanctity of Motherhood”, “Pray for Peace for Jerusalem” programme, educational project “Russia 1917. Images of the Future”, programmes “Alexander Nevsky” and “Frontiers of Russia” and other areas of activity.
