The VI “Sanctity of Motherhood” Forum started in Minsk

The Forum will be held for two days, on November 14-15, and focuses on “Family in the modern world: significance, tendencies and prospects”. The moderators of the plenary session include Natalia Yakunina, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of “Sanctity of Motherhood” program implemented by the Foundation of Saint Andrew the First-Called, Marianna Shchetkina, Deputy Chairperson of Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, and Irina Kostevich, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Belarus. 

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, along with other officials and public figures, sent their greetings to address the organizers. In his address, Vladimir Putin reminds that “Sanctity of Motherhood” program takes serious and important actions: the program realizes large-scale projects, which are of great significance for the present-day life, and aim to preserve the society’s spiritual and moral values, to support family, motherhood and childhood, along with upbringing the young generation. As for Alexander Lukashenko, he emphasizes that throughout the years of its activity this event has become an important platform for the dialogue between politicians, public figures and state authorities for discussion of family protection. 

Natalia Yakunina told about the program that had been launched to help mothers and later turned into a bigger project. She told about the projects that had been implemented, including advertising for social causes; the book titled “To be a father” that has gained popularity and the second edition has been published this year; and “Family Studies” (“The foundations of a family life”) course for students developed by experts from the Russian Academy of Education. 

“A family life requires parents to limit their freedom, but it also makes them truly happy. People of today need to see a positive and inspiring image of a friendly, large family. That is why one of the areas “Sanctity of Motherhood” is focused on is the collaboration with mass media experts,” – said Natalia Yakunina describing the program’s activity. 

Natalia Yakunina told about round-table talks as the format for the Forum, where all the aspects related to family support are covered, including legal, material, psychological and informational ones. The best practices of different countries related to family support will be discussed during the Forum’s sections, which are going to start their work on November 15. 

Dragomir Karic, deputy of Narodna Skupshtina of the Republic of Serbia and advisor to the Karic Foundation, who became the co-organizer of the Forum, started his speech with positive words: 

“I am a very happy person. I’ve got three sons and one daughter, along with 12 grandchildren,” – he said.
