The gratitude message from Orthodox parishioners of Germany to the Foundation of St. Andrew the First-Called
Christ has risen!
Dear brothers and sisters! Like all Orthodox Christians we have heard about the Holy Fire and its miraculous descent just before the Holy Easter many times. A lot of times we have seen the amazing moment on TV when the Holy Fire appears at the Holy Sepulcher on Great Saturday. But even there, on the Holy Land, not all willing people get a chance to be present there to see this miracle and to feel all the joy thinking about salvation deeds of Our Lord Jesus Christ, not to mention the people who stay here in Germany.
The warden of Church of Nativity of Holy Mother of God in Nurnberg knew that the Russian Foundation of St. Andrew the First-Called has been delivering the Holy Fire to Moscow for 15 years already. He came up with the bold idea to bring the Holy Fire closer to Orthodox people in Germany. He discussed the matter with senior priest Anatoly, got the blessing from Archbishop of Berlin and Germany Mark, and officially applied for support from the Foundation. His request got the positive response and the Foundation provided great support in this matter.
The churchwarden and a parishioner headed off to the Holy Land. On the way they had to face a lot of challenges and temptations of different kind. Thanks to precious support in the form of prayers of priests and parishioners from different parishes in Germany, and thanks to the Foundation’s help, for the first time ever they managed to bring the cherished Holy Fire from Jerusalem to Germany. Having done so, they literally brought a piece of blessing to the house of every Orthodox Christian, the blessing that appeared at the Holy Sepulcher on April 15 this year. Thanks to it, many Orthodox Christians in Germany could share the amazing feeling of joy as they witnessed the miracle of Jerusalem and praised the Lord during the joint service. Over a dozen parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church in Germany got the Holy Fire. We hope this miraculous event will become traditional in the future and will be the essential element of the Bright Week.
On behalf of Orthodox believers of Germany we would like to express our deepest gratitude for the Foundation of St. Andrew the First-Called. The Foundation provided the comprehensive help and invaluable high-end support. We hope that we will be able to meet you again next year on the Holy Land! Save us, o Lord!
