Every year on Easter Holiday the Holy Fire is delivered to the Monastery by a special transport. The Fire is ceremonially welcomed by Bishop Pancratius Troitsky, Father Superior of the Valaam Monastery.

In 2006 the Foundation of St. Andrew the First-Called together with “Russian Railways” OJSC organized a humanitarian action as part of patronage work — 18 medical officers from clinic hospitals and polyclinics of the Oktyabrskaya Railway visited Valaam monks and brought medical supplies. Within two days the doctors examined over 100 patients including both brethren and local population.
