Translation of the Holy Fire to Russia and its dissemination

Every year since 2003 on the Great Saturday just before the Easter the Foundation of St. Andrew the First-Called translates the Holy Fire to Russia from the Church of Resurrection in Jerusalem. Throughout the years the translation of the Holy Fire has become a good tradition the modern Russian people are aware of.

Before the beginning of the Easter Service at the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour a candle with the Holy Fire is handed to Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, and then the Fire is disseminated to many churches. With support from the Foundation the Holy Fire is delivered to eparchies and churches of the Russian Orthodox Church in the European part of Russia, to Siberia and the Far East, to the countries of CIS and beyond.

The translation of the Holy Fire is a symbol and the sign of the Christ’s resurrection that happened in the Holy town of Jerusalem.
