International youth archeological camp “Veliky Novgorod in the historical memory of generations”

International youth archeological camp «Veliky Novgorod in the historical memory of generations» is held by the Centre of National Glory as part of the programme «Historical memory of generations» together with the Novgorod Open Air Museum, Novgorod archeological expedition and the Government of the Novgorod region.

The goal of the camp is to involve the youth to  re-creation and learning of the historical reality by means of works at the archaeological site (archeological diggings in Veliky Novgorod).

One of the forms of the Camp is to develop archeological activity of the youth and to establish the all-Russian movement of youth archeological groups.

The participants of the Camp are offered the following activities:

  • working activity to search, clean and process archeological objects;
  • learning the history and archeology of Veliky Novgorod;
  • lectures of heads of the archeological expedition and employees of the Novgorod Open Air Museum about the history of Veliky Novgorod and cultural and historical heritage of Russia;
  • round tables about youth archeological movements;
  • to get to know Novgorod historical monuments, to visit Novgorod Kremlin, Poozerye, Yaroslavo Dvorische, Museum of «Slavic village of X c." in Lyubytino, Peredolsky Pogost ( Shum-gora ), Yuriev Monastery, Ryurik ancient settlement and others;
  • also participation in sports and cultural-leisure events.

In 2015 young people from Russia, Serbia, Syria, Vietnam, Bulgaria and Lithuania participated in the camp.
