On Holy Easter Sunday, April 8th, the Holy Fire, or Holy Light (from Greek Άγιος Φως), being the symbol of the Resurrection of Christ that is shining from the life-giving Sepulchre of the Saviour, was delivered from Jerusalem to Milan, Merano and Verona via Moscow by Aeroflot Airlines.

The joint action of the Administration of Italian parishes of Moscow Patriarchate, the Foundation of St. Andrew the First-Called and the Merano Orthodox Community of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, with support from Aeroflot Airlines and Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Milan provided the opportunity for all Orthodox parishes in Italy and adjacent countries to obtain the Holy Fire.
