<p>
     Vladimir Ivanovich Yakunin was born on 30th June, 1948 in Melenki, the Vladimir region. In 1972 he graduated from the Leningrad Mechanic Institute. He began his working career as a junior research associate at the State Institute of Applied Chemistry. Having served in the Soviet army Vladimir Yakunin worked as an engineer, senior engineer at the Department of State Committee of Council of Ministers of the USSR on external economic relations, head of department at the Ioffe Physical and Technical Institute of Academy of Science of the USSR.

     Married, two sons.

</p>
<p>
     In 1985 — 1991 Vladimir Yakunin was involved in diplomatic work (Second and then First Secretary of the Permanent representative office of the USSR to United Nations).
</p>
<p>
     Then — Chairman of the Board of Directors at “International Centre of Business Cooperation” Closely-Held Corporation, head of the North-West district inspectorate of Chief control department of the administration of the President of the Russian Federation.
</p>
<p>
     From October 2000 Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation. 
</p>
<p>
     From February 2002 First Deputy Minister of Railways.
</p>
<p>
     From October 2003 First Vice-President of “Russian Railways” OJSC.
</p>
<p>
     From June 2005 to August 2015 President of “Russian Railways” OJSC.
</p>
<p>
     Vladimir Yakunin is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Centre of National Glory and the Foundation of Saint Andrew the First-Called.

<p>
     President and Founder of the World Public Forum “Dialogue of Civilizations”.

     Vladimir Yakunin awarded with the following orders: Order of Honour, “For Merit to the Fatherland” IV Class, Order of Friendship, Order of Alexander Nevsky — for significant contribution to preparation and organizing of the XXII Olympic Winter Games and XI Paralympic Winter Games 2014 in Sochi; Medals “For Merits at War”, “For Development of Railways”.

     Awarded with decoration “Honoured Railway Worker of Russian Railways”.
</p>
<p>
     The winner of the Award of Government of the RF in the field of science and engineering.
</p>
<p>
     Awarded with II-Class decoration of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Holy Great Prince Vladimir, Equal of the Apostles, II-Class decoration of Blessed Seraphim Sarovsky; I-Class decoration of Blessed Andrew Rublev, II-Class Order of Glory and Honour; I-Class Order of Council of Muftis of Russia “Al-Fakhr”. For significant contribution to development of dialogue of civilizations between people and for organization of pan-Orthodox prayer “Pray for Peace for Jerusalem” he was awarded with Order of the Holy Sepulcher (Jerusalem Orthodox Church).

     Vladimir Yakunin awarded with the International Prize of Andrew the First-Called “Faith and Faithfulness” in 2000 for contribution to strengthening of the Russian statehood and for active involvement in the implementation of the project “Centre of National Glory”.
</p>
<p>
     Awarded with the Prize of the International Public Fund of Unity of Orthodox Peoples.
</p>
<p>
     Awarded with the highest decoration of France — Legion of Honour, Grand decoration with Gold Star for Merits to the Republic of Austria, highest decoration of the Republic of Kazakhstan — Order of “Dostyk”, Order “For Merits to Italian Republic” as Great Officer.

     Awarded with Gold Medal of “La Renaissance Française” Association for contribution to development and strengthening of Russian-French relationships.
</p>
<p>
     Awarded with decoration “For Civilian Merits” of “Grand Cross” Class of the Kingdom of Spain, “Award for social work for the benefit of the common good” of British Organization GCGI (Globalization for the Common Good Initiative).

     Awarded with gold medal “For merits” of the Republic of Serbia for organization of humanitarian aid for Kosovo and Metohija.
